Description
Psychophages are insidious, parasitic creatures that
resemble pulsating, malformed brains with spindly, clawed
legs. They latch onto the heads of their victims, extending
tendrils that burrow into the skull, allowing them to control
their host like a puppet. When in control, the
Psychophage’s influence warps the host’s body and mind,
distorting their physical form and eroding any trace of the
host’s original personality.
Tactics
Psychophages prefer to remain hidden, manipulating their
hosts from within. They rely on the brute strength of their
controlled hosts (like frost giants or other strong creatures)
to engage in combat while they stay protected. If a host
body is destroyed, the psychophage will try to flee or
immediately seek out a new host, attempting to latch onto
the nearest creature.
Psychophages are cunning, using their host to target
weaker or isolated enemies first, gradually weakening the
party. Direct confrontation is avoided unless absolutely
necessary, as they are vulnerable without a host.
